31.07.2006 SAN FRANCISCO, Jul 31 (OneWorld) - Lebanon marked a national day of mourning Monday, a day after Israeli warplanes bombed the village of Qana killing at least 57 people, most of them children.

26.07.2006 Logistikko Ari Mäntyvaara lähetettiin tänään Lähi-itään Suomen Punaisen Ristin lähettämänä. Mäntyvaara huolehtii avustuksista Libanonin pakolaisille. Tiistaina Punainen Risti sai Suomen ulkoministeriöltä 500 000 euroa Libanonin kriisin hätäapuun. Rahat ohjataan Punaisen Ristin kansainvälisen komitean kautta, todennäköisesti sekä tavara- että raha-apuna.

26.07.2006 Eteläisen rannikkoalueen suurimman kaupungin Tyren asukkaat ja pakolaiset jäävät ruuatta ja vedettä, jollei nykyistä suurempia avustuseriä saada perille. Alueella on nyt ainakin 110 000 ihmistä. Näin varoittaa kansainvälinen Punainen Risti, joka viime viikon lopulla sai ensimmäisen avustussaattueensa perille Tyreen.

26.07.2006 SAN FRANCISCO, Jul 25 (OneWorld) - Humanitarian agencies in war-torn Lebanon are calling on the Israeli government to open a "humanitarian corridor" so they can help the sick without risking their lives.

26.07.2006 The UN has launched a "flash appeal" for $150 million in humanitarian aid for Lebanese civilians. It is also asking for Israel to provide "humanitarian corridors"--passageways safe from Israeli attack--in order for aid workers to provide assistance to those in need.

25.07.2006 UNICEF on julkistanut vetoomuksen Libanonin ja Syyrian kriisin keskelle joutuneiden lasten auttamiseksi. Vetoomus on osa YK-järjestöjen yhteisvetoomusta. Libanonin 600 000:sta kotoaan paenneesta ihmisestä lähes puolet on lapsia. Alueella tarvitaan nyt lääkkeitä, puhdasta vettä, sanitaatiota ja traumahoitoa, UNICEF listaa.

21.07.2006 Punaisen Ristin avustusoperaatio Libanonissa laajenee. Kansainvälinen Punainen Risti on erittäin huolissaan sodan keskellä olevien siviilien kohtalosta. Varsinkin Libanonin eteläosiin on jäänyt loukkuun runsaasti siviilejä. Geneven sopimusten mukaan sodan osapuolten on turvattava lääkintäryhmien toiminta ja kulku saarrettuihin kyliin. Toistaiseksi tämä ei ole onnistunut.
