31.01.2008 Over 1.5 million young women have been widowed in Afghanistan owing to armed conflicts over the last two decades. Food, shelter and social protection are the most pressing needs for these women and their children with most of them lacking the economic means to earn a decent living.

25.01.2008 ActionAid ha in programma di fornire soccorso immediato a 179 villaggi afghani messi ginocchio dall'ondata di freddo di quest'inverno, il peggiore degli ultimi trent'anni. "Alcuni villaggi sono completamente isolati e l’entità dei danni provocati è in costante aumento"- afferma il portavoce di ActionAid in Afghanistan, sottolineando che i problemi stanno aumentando soprattutto per le persone che vivono lontane dai centri urbani. Gli aiuti sono destinati a 28mila persone a Darzab, Questhpa, Khamiyab, Murdian, e Khawaja Do Koh, distretti della provincia di Jawzja. Stamane il Ministero degli Esteri ha disposto l'invio di un volo di emergenza con a bordo beni umanitari a favore della popolazione afghana residente nel distretto di Surobi.
