31.03.2008 "Come realtà nazionali e di rappresentanza del movimento equo e solidale italiano chiediamo ai candidati Premier un incontro pubblico, aperto, capace di affrontare i temi della sostenibilità, dell'attenzione ai diritti dell'ambiente e delle comunità": lo afferma una lettera firmata dalle principali organizzazioni del commercio equo e solidale diffusa dall'AGICES, l’Assemblea Generale del Commercio Equo e Solidale. "Chiediamo un sostegno, forte, chiaro all’impegno di migliaia di volontari e milioni di persone, che passa per l’approvazione della legge di settore, già presentata la scorsa legislatura dopo un percorso efficace e partecipato, perché un settore di alte idealità e di economia diversa possa trovare un riconoscimento chiaro e meritato" - continua la nota. L'Italia è stato uno dei primi paesi al mondo a riconoscere attraverso l'elaborazione di un progetto di legge ad hoc il fenomeno equosolidale.
