Kirjan aiheisiin kuuluvat myös seksuaalinen väkivalta ja seksuaalioikeudet. HIV/AIDS-aktiivi Judge Edwin Cameron totesi kirjan julkistamistilaisuudessa, että kuurot ovat edelleen kielellisesti, sosiaalisesti ja taloudellisesti syrjäytynyt ryhmä, eivätkä he ole saaneet riittävästi aiheeseen liittyvää tietoa.
