Jaladindi, meaning a religious procession across water
18.02.2008 In western India, jaladindi (a water procession) is undertaken by a local doctor every year to spread awareness on keeping rivers clean. It was felt that people would relate better if it was linked to the 800-year old spiritual tradition of a march for the realisation of life’s noble values.

Flooding waters
07.12.2007 A two-day national seminar on ‘Adapting to Climate Change’ in Pune, a city in Indian state of Maharashtra was held to take a dedicated view of global warming and its impact on water resources in the wake of projections about intense changes in the hydrological cycle. It has called for a review of five-year old national water policy to counter climate change.

09.11.2007 Nel corso dei Development Days, attualmente in corso a Lisbona, le Ong che promuovono la Campagna sulla Banca europea per gli investimenti (BEI), tra cui l'italiana CRBM, hanno chiesto all’istituzione di migliorare i suoi standard e le sue procedure inerenti ai prestiti. Il recente considerevole aumento dei fondi a disposizione fa della BEI la più grande istituzione multilaterale per lo sviluppo. "Tuttavia, se paragonata ad altri enti, la BEI ha degli standard socio-ambientali che lasciano molto a desiderare" - affermano le campagne. Intanto, nei giorni scorsi, i rappresentanti delle Ong convenute a Parigi all'incontro annuale con l’OCSE per discutere in materia di agenzie di credito all’esportazione (Ecas) hanno deciso di abbandonare le consultazioni in protesta contro l'inadeguatezza di linee guida socio-ambientali delle Ecas.
