Weeks of heavy rain flooded over 30 percent of the country and left hundreds of homeless in Bangladesh, which is experiencing some of the worst flooding in recent years and terribly affecting day to day life. The estimation shows around 10 percent of the country’s 80,000 primary schools had been affected due to floods.

International child rights agency, Save the Children has conducted a study to understand minimum standards for the provision of education in Andhra Pradesh, India. Ugandalainen teleyritys on lahjoittanut viisi tietokonetta maan suurimmalle vankilalle käytettäväksi vankien koulutukseen. Vankien koulutukseen panostaminen kannattaa, sillä tilastojen mukaan vankeusaikana koulutusta saaneista 70 prosenttia sopeutuu yhteiskuntaan vapauduttuaan.

The Budget allocation for higher and technical education in the country is set to treble in the 11th Five-Year Plan (2007-2012) with the Planning Commission expected to allocate over Rs 26,000 crore, compared to Rs 8,876 crore in the 10th Five-Year Plan.

Intel Corp. ties up with three Indian PC vendors, including HCL Infosystems Ltd., Wipro Ltd., and Zenith Computers Ltd to assemble the Classmate PC. WASHINGTON, Aug 5 (OneWorld) - Breastfeeding within the first hour of life can drastically reduce the number of early childhood deaths in developing countries, the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) said this week, adding that more than one third of child deaths occur during "the first fragile month of life."

Tietoverkkojen avulla pienet kirjastot voivat laajentaa mahdollisuuksia kirjojen lainaamiseen muista lähikirjastoista.
